The Effect of Watching Trolls Movie with English Subtitle Towards Students’ Pronunciation Ability

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh menonton film Trolls dengan subtitle bahasa Inggris untuk mengembangkan pengucapan siswa di kelas sebelas SMK AKP Galang. Sampel penelitian ini terdiri dari 36 siswa XI TKJ 1 kelas eksperimen dan 36 siswa XI TKJ 2 kelas kontrol. Dalam penelitian ini, kelas eksperimen diajar dengan menonton film Trolls dengan subtitle bahasa Inggris dalam proses pembelajaran sedangkan kelas kontrol diajar dengan cara konvensional. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam bentuk penelitian kuantitatif. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini adalah pre-test dan post-test. Teknik yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pre-test yang diberikan pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol, dan post-test yang diberikan pada kelas eksperimen dan mencatat pengucapan siswa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan film Trolls dengan subtitle bahasa Inggris efektif untuk mengembangkan pengucapan siswa. Hal ini terlihat dari hasil perhitungan dengan taraf signifikansi 0,05 menunjukkan bahwa t-hitung (3,558) lebih besar dari t-tabel (1,667). Artinya ada efektivitas menonton film Trolls dengan subtitle bahasa Inggris untuk mengembangkan pengucapan siswa.
