Literature Review: Pengaruh Daun Ruku-Ruku (Ocimum tenuiflorum linne) Terhadap Hormon Esterogen Wanita

Masa lanjut usia atau lansia adalah periode di mana fungsi fisik, kognitif, dan fisiologis yang terkait dengan proses penuaan biasanya menurun. WHO menetapkan batas usia 65 tahun sebagai indikator penuaan yang signifikan. Namun, faktor lain seperti gaya hidup, kesehatan fisik dan mental, serta faktor lingkungan juga berperan penting dalam penuaan. Menopause, yang terjadi pada wanita, merupakan penurunan hormon estrogen dan dapat diobati dengan Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), obat non-hormonal, atau terapi alternatif. Salah satu terapi alternatif yang dikaji adalah penggunaan daun ruku-ruku, yang memiliki efek antibakteri, antijamur, meningkatkan produksi hormon, serta meningkatkan kualitas tidur pada wanita pascamenopause. Diperlukan penelitian lebih lanjut untuk memahami manfaat, mekanisme, dan dosis optimal penggunaan daun ruku-ruku sebagai terapi tambahan pada wanita lansia.
