Ibnu Sina melihat manusia sebagai entitas yang terdiri dari tubuh dan jiwa, di mana tubuh berperan sebagai instrumen bagi jiwa yang merupakan inti dari kehidupan manusia. Ia berpendapat bahwa jiwa dan tubuh saling bergantung dan tidak bisa dipisahkan. Ibn Sina membagi jiwa manusia menjadi tiga tingkatan, yaitu jiwa nabati (pertumbuhan), jiwa haywani (indera), dan jiwa ‘aqli (akal). Jiwa manusia memiliki sifat kekal dan akan terus ada setelah tubuh meninggal, yang menggambarkan keterkaitan erat antara jiwa dan akal sebagai sumber pengetahuan dan tindakan.
