Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan faktor-faktor penyebab siswa mengalami kecemasan berbicara Bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing. Fokus penelitian ini mendeskripsikan semua faktor yang menyebabkan kecemasan dalam kegiatan berbicara menggunakan Bahasa Inggris. Jenis penelitian adalah kualitatif tipe fenomenologi dengan membandingkan pada fenomena yang ada sesuai dengan aslinya. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi dan wawancara. Wawancara diberikan dalam bentuk pedoman wawancara yang terstruktur secara face to face kepada informan. Analisis data dilakukan dengan metode DPA (Desckriptif Phenomenology Analisis). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat tiga faktor penyebab kecemasan siswa dalam berbahasa Inggris meliputi (1) ketidakyakinan terhadap kemampuan sendiri; (2) ketakutan akan evaluasi negatif; dan (3) ketakutan akan dibanding-bandingkan.
