Penelitian Deskriptif Kegiatan Shelving di UPA Perpustakaan Universitas Jambi

Shelving atau penyusunan kembali koleksi pada rak di perpustakaan adalah salah satu aspek penting dalam manajemen perpustakaan. Proses ini tidak hanya memastikan buku tersusun rapi, tetapi juga mempermudah akses pengguna terhadap sumber informasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis apa saja strategi shelving di UPA Perpustakaan Universitas Jambi serta mengidentifikasi tantangan yang dihadapi, seperti disiplin pengguna, keterbatasan ruang, dan konsistensi staf. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif, serta menjelaskan deskripsi kegiataan penyusunan buku pada rak dengan melakukan observasi, dan wawancara. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa penggunaan sistem klasifikasi Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) memudahkan proses shelving, meskipun diperlukan edukasi pengguna yang lebih intensif dan penyempurnaan strategi penataan koleksi.
