Pandemi COVID-19 dan Peningkatan Kasus Kekerasan Gender di India

Di India, Covid-19 telah meningkatkan jumlah kekerasan berbasis gender pada perempuan. Minimnya partisipasi ekonomi perempuan akibat norma dan keyakinan struktural patriarki kemudian melanggengkan dan membenarkan kekerasan terhadap perempuan. Untuk mencegah penularan penyakit, tindakan penguncian telah diambil. Selama Work From Home, tanggung jawab mengurus rumah tangga lebih banyak dibebani perempuan, sehingga berpotensi kehilangan akses terhadap pekerjaan, sehingga kurang mandiri secara finansial. Tugas dan peran yang terstruktur, ditambah keterbatasan ekonomi, kemudian memperparah subordinasi perempuan. Tulisan ini mengkaji bagaimana pekerjaan perawatan tak berbayar yang membatasi kekuatan ekonomi perempuan telah membuat hierarki vertikal dalam rumah tangga, yang didukung oleh norma dan keyakinan patriarki, membenarkan kekerasan terhadap perempuan di India. Perspektif Care Focused Feminism dan konsep ketidaksetaraan gender digunakan dalam makalah ini.
