Media Sosial sebagai Preferensi Sumber Informasi Politik Generasi Milenial

Tren menunjukkan media sosial kini semakin menggantikan media tradisional seperti televisi dan surat kabar sebagai sumber informasi politik generasi milenial. Untuk itu, penelitian ini berupaya untuk mengungkapkan bagaimana media sosial dapat secara dominan menjadi pilihan generasi milenial tersebut sebagai sumber informasi politik. Melalui lensa teori uses and gratifications, penelitian ini menyelidiki motif-motif yang mendasari penggunaan media sosial oleh generasi milenial. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan mewawancarai enam informan mahasiswa yang berasal dari beragam latar belakang perguruan tinggi maupun jurusan. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa motif-motif kognitif, personal integratif, integrasi sosial, afektif, dan pelepasan ketegangan mendasari aktivitas pencarian informasi politik oleh generasi milenial di media sosial.
