Abstract

Berbicara merupakan salah satu keterampilan yang paling penting dalam mempelajari bahasa asing, termasuk bahasa Inggris. Namun, mengajar berbicara sering kali merupakan tugas yang menantang bagi guru bahasa Inggris, terutama dalam konteks siswa sekolah menengah atas. Dalam beberapa tahun terakhir, media sosial menjadi platform populer bagi masyarakat untuk mengekspresikan diri, termasuk melalui vlog di reel Instagram. Mini vlog, khususnya, telah mendapatkan popularitas di kalangan anak muda karena pendek dan mudah dibuat. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi pada literatur yang ada mengenai pengajaran bahasa, khususnya di bidang pengembangan keterampilan berbicara. Motivasi siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 2 Lubuk Pakam dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris dapat ditingkatkan dengan menggunakan video mini vlog dari reels Instagram sebagai media untuk memotivasi siswa dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris. Peneliti menemukan beberapa masalah seperti pengucapan karena siswa takut melakukan kesalahan meskipun ada beberapa siswa yang dapat berbicara bahasa Inggris karena kurangnya motivasi. Dari temuan di atas, dapat diabaikan bahwa menurut peneliti, siswa mempunyai masalah dalam berbicara karena kurangnya motivasi, buruknya kosa kata, pengucapan, tata bahasa, kefasihan dan kegugupan.
