Kotagede terletak di Yogyakarta, merupakan salah satu kawasan bersejarah yang kaya akan nilai budaya maupun arsitektural nya. Sebagai bekas dari ibu kota Kerajaan Mataram Islam pada abad ke-16, Kotagede menyimpan banyak peninggalan sejarah yang berpengaruh besar terhadap perkembangan tipologi dan morfologi kawasan tersebut. Tujuan dari penulisan paper ini adalah untuk mengetahui tipologi dan morfologi kawasan Kotagede di Yogyakarta. Metode yang digunakan berupa literatur review dan studi pustaka sehingga menemukan pola pembentukan kawasan kota gede dari masa ke masa, serta menggunakan Teori Pendekatan Rancangan Kota oleh Roger Trancik sebagai acuan studi.
