The Effect of Using Let’s Read Asia on 7th Grade Students’ Reading Aloud at SMP Negeri 9 Muaro Jambi

Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada kemampuan membaca nyaring siswa yang berkaitan dengan volume saat membaca, kecepatan, ungkapan yang tepat, dan ketepatan membaca. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi eksperimen yang dilakukan di Sekolah Menengah Pertama. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII A (sebagai kelas eksperimen) dan VII F (sebagai kelas kontrol), dengan melakukan pre-test, treatment (dalam enam pertemuan), dan post-test. Uji-t sampel independen digunakan untuk analisis data. Hasil skor rata-rata post-test pada kelas eksperimen adalah 12,54, dan skor rata-rata pre-test adalah 7,75. Sementara itu, kelas kontrol memiliki skor rata-rata pre-test sebesar 7,08 dan 11,33 pada post-test. Kelas eksperimen mengalami peningkatan sebesar 4,79 poin, sedangkan kelas kontrol mengalami peningkatan sebesar 4,25 poin. Hasil uji-t independen sig. (2-tailed) adalah 0,00<0,05. Hal ini berarti bahwa Hipotesis Nol (H0) ditolak dan Hipotesis Alternatif (Ha) diterima. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kemampuan membaca nyaring siswa dengan menggunakan media pembelajaran Let’s Read Asia.
